EU Regulation 2021/782Beta

Train delay compensation in Germany

When a train arrives over an hour late, the operator owes you part of the ticket. Check the arrival we recorded and claim from the operator's own form.

Beta: these arrival records are our own and may be incomplete. Use them as a guide, not as proof.

What is your delay worth?

A ticket is worth 25% of its price when the train arrives 60 to 119 minutes late, and 50% at 120 minutes or more.

Late arrivals we recorded

Each arrival below is one of our own records from the last 12 days. Pick one to fill in the form above.

329 of 7,274 recorded arrivals crossed an hour of delay.

Where to claim

The claim goes to the operator that ran your train, not to us. Pick the company you travelled with - you keep the full amount.

Deutsche Bahn

bahn.de

Decides the claim on its own form - you keep the full amount.

FlixTrain

flixtrain.de

Decides the claim on its own form - you keep the full amount.

metronom

der-metronom.de

Decides the claim on its own form - you keep the full amount.

Travelled with an operator that is not listed? Its own claim page applies the same thresholds and the same one-month deadline.

How it works

  1. 01

Open the operator's claim page for the journey you travelled.

  2. 02

Have the ticket, the booking reference and an IBAN ready.

  3. 03

The operator must settle a valid claim within one month.

Check before you claim

Look up the arrival we recorded, then take the amount to the operator's own form.

Questions

When am I owed compensation?

When your train arrives 60 minutes or more late at the station your ticket ends at. The delay is measured there, not at the end of the train's route.

How much is it worth?

25% of the price you paid for an arrival 60 to 119 minutes late, and 50% at 120 minutes or more. It is a share of the ticket, so keep it until the claim is settled.

Who do I claim from?

The operator that ran your train. Its form asks for the journey, the date and your booking reference, and it must answer within one month.
